Marcone Moreira
Marcone Moreira has worked since the late 1990s in ongoing research into the relationships between materiality and sociocultural phenomena. His practice spans drawing, painting, sculpture, video, objects, photography, and installation. His work grows from a connection with the memory of materials, investigating physical experience and culturally constructed meanings. The marks of time on surfaces—layers of paint, wear, rust, and stains—become starting points for compositions that address the spiritual, social, and formal dimensions enmeshed in these residues. Through processes of reconfiguration, the artist gives found elements new directions that honor their original condition while inventing a geometry of their own, testing other forms of existence in the world.

He has presented the solo exhibitions "Territórios Líquidos" (Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo, 2015), "Conjunção" (Bergamin & Gomide, São Paulo, 2020), and "Entre Ruínas: o mundo em trânsito de Marcone Moreira" (Caixa Cultural São Paulo, 2025). His works are part of the collections of MAR, MAM Rio, the Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia, and the Fundação Clóvis Salgado. He received the Marcantonio Vilaça Prize from FUNARTE in 2010 and was nominated for the PIPA Prize five times, in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018.
