Luiz Fernando Dantas

Luiz Fernando Dantas works with photography and weaving to investigate the tensions between the natural landscape and human intervention. His practice moves through the imaging of botanical elements, capturing the flow of light and the textures of vegetation and establishing a direct relationship between the object and the act of looking. The artist expands this research by combining crochet with organic materials, such as tree trunks and branches found along his paths. By wrapping wood in handmade threads, Dantas alters the habitual perception of the natural element, giving it a new materiality and volume. His work is organized through these coverings and layers, where the rigor of framing or geometry merges with the irregular forms of nature, resulting in images and objects that deal sensitively with the mysteries of nature and their possible physical configurations.

He has presented his work in the solo exhibitions "Botânico" (Galeria Terrasse, Teresina, 2016), "Intimidades" (Galeria Sobrado, Teresina, 2017), and "Ísola" (Lima Galeria, São Luís, 2021), and participated in the group exhibition "Anima.Animus" (12th Festival de Fotografia, Tiradentes, 2023).
